After consulting with some fellow nomads we decided to move on to Macquarie Woods over the Easter holiday period. There were around 60 rigs here over Easter and still heaps of room with a good 30 to 50m between vans. Definitely one of our favourite spots so far and a good base for visiting Orange and Bathurst.
Accommodation Rating – 4.5/5
Location | Lovely, in the middle of the pine forest about 2km off the Mitchell Highway |
Facilities | Drop toilets, fire drums, bins |
Dog Walks | Miles of walking tracks in the pine forest |
Local Services | None, but Orange and Bathurst both about 30km away |
Cost | Free, no time limit |
Comment | This is a huge clearing in the forest, can get windy but more sheltered areas available.
TV Signal is good but phone signal (Telstra) poor on the lower areas. You will need to decide if you want to risk a windy site with phone or a sheltered one with no phone |
